This is Marie T. Russell, co-publisher of InnerSelf.com, wishing you a day of mindful living (today and every day).

Comment from Marie:
A way to describe our modern world and life might be "a game of distractions". As we consciously work on maintaining our inner peace and focus on Love, so many things pull at our attention to distract us and set us on another path... one of consumption, overdoing things - whether eating, time "wasted" on distractions, focusing on other people's lives, etc. etc.

When we practice being mindful, we practice having our attention where we are... where our feet and our hands are, what our eyes are seeing, and opening our heart. We move back from all the things that call for our attention, and focus on the here and now... who we are with, what we are doing -- NOW. Not yesterday, not tomorrow, not even tonite... but just this present moment, with the person or persons with us right here and right now.

with Peace, Love, and Gratitude,

Marie (MT) Russell

InnerSelf's Daily Inspiration

October 4-5-6, 2024

The focus for today (and the weekend) is:

I practice mindful living as well as mindful eating.

Today's inspiration was written by Matthew Wood:

Modern corporations play to our appetitive nature, encouraging it through the use of addictive levels of sugar, salt, unhealthy lipids, and synthetic foods.

We also develop food and substance allergies to never-eaten-before processed food, spilling histamine and heparin into our system, causing allergic reactions, sensitive tissue, and changes in local blood supply.

Today, spiritual consciousness requires good, sound food, as well as spiritual desire, discipline, and effort through through mindful living as well as through mindful eating. And everyone should exercise, whether on a spiritual path or just trying to stay healthy. “Chop wood, carry water.”
