a heart with the words Love Heals

This is Marie T. Russell, co-publisher of InnerSelf.com, wishing you a day of serving (and healing) the community through your Love (today and every day).

Comment from Marie:
We tend to think of healers and intuitives (or psychics) as a special type of person. And perhaps they are, but the truth is that we are all healers and intuitives in some form and at some level.

The greatest healing power comes from the gift of Love... Love can heal wounds that go back deep in a person's past. Unconditional love and acceptance are powerful healers. I recall a friend who presented workships in prisons that housed murderers, etc. telling me that the men would cry when they felt the Unconditional Love she had for them. They told her they had never felt loved before.

So our power to heal doesn't depend on training. It depends on us opening our heart and Loving others for the possibility that resides in them. Seeing past their current problems and hurts and traumas, and helping them recognize the wonderful being that resides within the middle of that hurt and anger. We are all healers by the power of our Love. Let's practice that anywhere we go... shopping market, driving down the road, at work, at home, wherever we find ourselves... Remember, Love is the ultimate healer. And you are Love (when you choose to be).

I have the desire or natural inclination
to serve the community in some way.

Today's inspiration was written by Lisa Fazio:

Village and neighborhood healers can be found in many cultures if not all. Even in our contemporary American/Western world, if you think about it, I bet you know someone who fits the archetype of “village witch” in some way or another.

I’d venture a guess that village healers can be found in apartment complexes, city neighborhoods, small towns and villages, and all the places in between. It may not be someone that has trained in a specific tradition (or it might be), but it could be someone with the desire or natural inclination to serve the community in some way.

We tend to believe that this type of medicine is in the past, but the power of nature, the Earth, the soil, the seeds, and all the spirits to emerge through us is implacable. It cannot be stopped.
