Why aren’t Democrats doing more for climate change?
THE YOUNG TURKS - John Hocevar, director of Greenpeace’s oceans campaign, discusses how climate change threatens the existence of the world’s penguins. One species, the Adelie penguin, is down 90 percent thanks to melting ice decimating the availability of krill, penguins’ main food supply.
Cenk Uygur wonders why the U.S. government isn’t doing more to combat climate change when scientific evidence like this indicates the problem is real and asks, “Are our politicians fundamentally corrupt?” Hocevar responds, “I think there’s an enormous problem with the level of corruption in Washington. … You really have to wonder what it’s going to take. I mean, how many Katrinas, how many Sandys, how many floods and droughts and fires around the world before these people are going to wake up?”
