The dream we once had has been fulfilled and yet there is a yearning for something more, a knowing deep within that I am more than my career, my house, my car, my relationships, my retirement, my investments, etc. There is something else that I am seeking which is needed to make me feel whole and complete.
From a very early age, I didn’t trust the norm. There was something about conformity that felt very unstable to me. I suppose my heart was such an active part of my perception that yielding it to someone else’s opinion did not seem to be a viable option.
If you are aware of what you are doing, and why you are doing it, you can change yourself and change the world. If you are unaware, you will see yourself as an observer. As a passive witness. Perhaps even as a victim. That is not what you are, but that is what you will think that you are.
When you wander down most supermarket aisles are you befuddled by too much choice? Do you feel overwhelmed when comparing new phone deals, insurance offers, energy provider plans?
Leading a life filled with meaning and purpose can greatly contribute to your level of happiness. Meaning and purpose in life are foundational to our existence. Like the other existential concerns about death, responsibility, and isolation, they can have far ranging implications for how we conduct our lives.
