Yes, I know... thinking about the past can be depressing. Yet, if we are to learn from our mistakes (our personal ones as well as those of humanity) we must be aware of what took place in the past, so we avoid repeating the same mistakes. Plus, when we look into the past we may discover things we were not aware of before. Knowledge is power.

As humans we have to know our history because we have to know how we got into our present predicament in order to get out of it.

In order for us to understand what is happening now and what will happen in the future, it is essential that we know the past.

We have to understand what happened before, combined with what is now so we can know what will happen.
