It’s important to understand that there is a link between science and spirituality. Learning about both will help you to have a great respect for this world and your place in it.
Brain and Heart Power
We connect to people around us in mysterious ways but science has proven that the heart is the biggest source of electromagnetic energy in the human body. They found there is an electromagnetic (energetic communication) between people.
“The magnetic field produced by the heart is more than 100 times greater in strength than the field generated by the brain and can be detected up to 3 feet away from the body.” [McCraty, R. (2015) Science of the Heart, Volume 2. HeartMath Institute,US.]
HeartMath research revealed that people and their pets heart waves, sync in with each other. Even couples that sleep next to each other tap into each others heart rhythm.
“We have been surprised at the high degree of heart-rhythm synchrony observed in couples while they sleep.” The hearts magnetic field extends out into the area around us. This may be why you intuitively pick up on people, and energies, around you.
Our Amazing Brain
Understanding the human brain will help you to understand yourself, your clients and people in general. I know how much it has impacted my life and helped me to handle situations more effectively.
Science has made some new discoveries such as realizing the brain can rewire itself. It’s called neuroplasticity. Neuroplasticity is the ability of your brain to change and adapt to your experiences.
Science now knows we can re-wire brain circuits and grow new neural pathways, just like a house electrical network can be rewired to work better and run new circuits. So if you want to have a good brain, science has proven that you need enjoyable exercise, fun hobbies, good sleep, low stress levels and good food.
Research from the Cochrane Institute in Wales showed that five activities—exercise, not smoking, drinking no more than a glass of wine a day, eating four servings of fruit and vegetables daily and being a normal weight can reduce the risk of developing dementia by an amazing 60 per cent.
Remember too much stress can be harmful to your brain. Studies are showing that when corticosteroids (the stress hormone) was increased that neurogenesis (brain growth) decreased. In fact, chronic stress can shrink the brain, making it hard to learn new information and more of a challenge to remember the information you already have.
As you know, food is paramount to good health and good brain connections. By choosing good food habits, we not only have stronger bodies but our moods are happier too as the gut sends up happy chemicals to your brain.
“Your gut is your second brain; gut bacteria transmit information from your GI tract to your brain via your vagus nerve. Just as you have neurons in your brain, you also have neurons in your gut—including neurons that produce neurotransmitters like serotonin, which is linked to mood.” -- Dr. Mercola
Our Clever Brain
Brain 1: This brain controls movement, breathing, circulation, hunger and reproduction. It is territorial.
Brain 2: Is linked to our feelings and emotions. It stores memories like a filing cabinet. It controls our hormones and temperature. Part of the limbic system.
Brain 3: This brain is linked to logic, speech and writing. It makes decisions and choices. It processes information from our senses (touch, sight, facial expressions and tone of voice.) Linked to movement and conscious brain. Helps with intuitive and psychic senses.

If we visualise negative experiences, we wire it more deeply into our brain. [Doidge, N. (2015) The Brain's Way of Healing (p 215) Penguin, NY.] Visualising or remembering pleasant, happy experiences makes the brain think it’s real so the circuits in the brain still activate. Brain scans even show that if someone mentally thinks about doing their music practise it registers in the brain nearly the same as if they did the real physical practise.
Pineal gland
The Pineal gland is the size of a rice grain, but holds magical qualities. It’s called pineal as it looks similar to a pinecone yet its only 0.8 cm long! (less than 1/2 inch)
The Pineal gland is linked to the 7th chakra and our 3rd eye which is situated in-between our eyebrows.
The Pineal gland makes the melatonin hormone which helps your circadium rhythm which is our sleep/wake cycle throughout the day. The pineal also influences our hormones and stress levels.
DMT (Dimethyltryptamine)
DMT is a neurotransmitter that is found in humans, plants and animals. It is said to be a part of us that helps expand to higher consciousness. Some people call DMT the spirit molecule. [Dale. C (2013) The Subtle Body Practice Manual (p.192), Sounds True, CO]
DMT is also found in some psychedelics substances.
So far research on rats shows that DMT is also produced naturally in the brain. Humans given DMT report seeing Beings and have other heightened experiences.
When we meditate the DMT in our brain will naturally heighten and therefore we may “see” things. The lungs are also said to produce DMT, although further research is required in this area.
Exercise: Pineal Power
1. Relax and breathe deeply into your lungs, abdomen and right down to your toes. Feel the heavenly oxygen finding its way into every part of your Being. Repeat several times.
2. Call on your own Spiritual essence to come fully into your space and your aura. Connect lovingly with your Higher self. Have the intention of focusing on your beliefs in this meditation.
3. Call in your main spirit guide to support and help you.
4. Connect into your heart chakra in the centre of your chest.
5. Focus your awareness into your pineal gland in the mid-part of your head.
6. Imagine going into your pineal gland. The pineal is like a portal, or tunnel of energy, which opens up into another realm where there is love, power and brilliance. Be aware of any colours, sensations and images that may appear to you.
7. Allow yourself to be transported to where you need to go.
8. Allow insight and knowingness to come to you.
9. Beliefs: State, in present tense, your desires/beliefs, such as – I’m successful at work, I am a loving, kind partner, I am a devoted parent. These beliefs will be more powerful now as you are in a deep, deep state so your subconscious will absorb them better.
Note: Be aware of any thoughts and feelings you have when going into a deep sleep as these will influence your subconscious as well.
Electrolytes for Energy
We need electrolytes as they help us have energy. If you are tired, (or are getting twitches, cramps or feeling weak) you may need more electrolytes in your body from foods and fluids. Foods such as fruit and vegetables provide energy to our bodies as they have electrolytes in them.
Magnesium is an electrolyte as it transports electrical energy around our body as that’s what electrolytes do! Other electrolytes are potassium, sodium, calcium, magnesium chloride and hydrogen phosphate. Fruits and vegetables have electrolytes in them such as sodium, potassium, calcium and magnesium.
“An electrolyte is a substance that produces an electrically conducting solution when dissolved in water. Electrolytes carry a charge and are essential for life. All higher forms of life need electrolytes to survive.” [Britannica]
As you may know sodium, potassium and magnesium are all minerals in the body. We are made of minerals. They actually burned elements with a flame and discovered that some have colours. Zinc was coloured blue/green; mercury red; sodium yellow, potassium lilac, calcium was an orange colour. I’m not surprised because we are made of colours. Our aura is colourful and I see that around people when I open my third eye to have a look. Crystals are also made of minerals.
Magnesium
Some clients come to me with a shaky tongue or hands and this can be a sign of magnesium deficiency. Cramps can also be a sign of magnesium deficiency as well as sugar cravings. See your health care professional if you feel you are lacking magnesium. Remember: too many magnesium supplements in the body can cause loose stools so be aware of this as magnesium is a natural relaxant.
Elements
It is fascinating to understand what we are made of. Did you know your body is made up of just six main elements. These elements are oxygen, carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen, calcium, and phosphorus. The top three elements of the human body are oxygen, carbon and hydrogen. Here’s the breakdown for you:
Carbon — 18.5% Hydrogen — 9.5% Nitrogen — 3.3% Calcium — 1.5% Phosphorus — 1.0% |
Potassium — 0.4% Sulfur — 0.3% Chlorine — 0.2% Sodium — 0.2% Magnesium — 0.1% Plus trace amounts of Iodine, Iron and Zinc. |
“Carbon is the main component of sugars, proteins, fats, DNA, muscle tissue, pretty much everything in your body.” [Huffington Post] Diamonds are made from carbon like us. Diamonds are formed after experiencing pressure and high temperatures.
Light
Light is made up of wavelengths. Each wavelength is a different colour. The sun’s light or even a light from a torch, appears to look like white light yet white light encompasses all the colours of the rainbow. A torch and the sun contains all of the wavelengths! [Science Learning Hub]
Colour |
Wavelength (nm) |

– 597 |
Yellow |

– 577 |
Green |

– 492 |
Blue |

– 455 |
Longer wavelengths of light are more of a red colour, while shorter wavelengths of light have more of a blue hue. “Short wavelength photons have a high amount of energy and long wavelength photons less.”
When you do visualisations, and other work with energy, you can imagine the shorter wavelength colours such as green, blue and violet as these colours have more energy.
